SIA CCTV Course in Forest Gate

Our SIA CCTV course in Forest Gate is three days of classroom and hands-on training, 9am to 6pm, a short walk from Forest Gate station. Pass the exams and you hold the Level 2 CCTV Operator award needed for an SIA Public Space Surveillance licence.

Train close to home in Newham

Forest Gate is a short journey from Manor Park, East Ham, Upton Park and Ilford. Three days is not long, but three days of crossing London at rush hour soon adds up. Here you can be in the classroom in minutes, and Stratford is two stops away on the Elizabeth line if you are coming from further out.

What you learn

You cover how a CCTV operator works within the law, including data protection and the codes of practice that govern public space cameras, then how a control room communicates with police, security teams and emergency services. The practical unit is spent on the equipment: following a person across several cameras, spotting incidents early and keeping records that can be used as evidence.

Guarding and CCTV together

Forest Gate is the only centre where you can book the SIA Security Guard course, and some guarding jobs on retail parks, construction sites and hospitals involve watching cameras for part of the shift. If you want door work too, the Door Supervisor and CCTV bundle in Forest Gate gets you both qualifications in one booking.

Find the centre and its other courses on the Forest Gate page.
