Renewing your SIA licence? The SIA Top Up Refresher Training in Manchester takes one or two days at our Stockport Road centre in M19 3BS. Emergency First Aid is included, so you leave with everything the SIA asks for when you renew.

The Door Supervisor days mix classroom sessions with practical work. Both courses end with multiple-choice and practical assessments here at the centre. Why it is compulsory

Refresher training became part of renewing a Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence on 1 April 2025. Don’t wait until the last few weeks: if your card runs out before the new one comes, you cannot work a licensed role in the meantime. You can renew before your licence expires, and an expired one can still be renewed as long as it ran out no more than three years ago.

First Aid on the first morning

You need a valid Emergency First Aid certificate both to sit the refresher and to renew. We teach it as part of the course, in a half-day session over the first half of day one, so there is nothing extra to book. Expect CPR, using a defibrillator, choking, controlling life-threatening bleeding and keeping an airway open.

Getting to Stockport Road

Our centre is at 817A Stockport Road, Manchester M19 3BS, on the A6 in south Manchester. Buses run along Stockport Road all day, connecting the centre with Piccadilly Gardens and Stockport, and Levenshulme station is nearby.

Dates are set with working security staff in mind. Weekend courses suit anyone on weekday site or retail shifts, while midweek Wednesday and Thursday dates work well for door staff who are busy on Friday and Saturday nights.

Booking and your first day

Pick a Manchester date, press Book, select Door Supervisor or Security Guard and add your name, email and mobile. A deposit, paid online by card, secures the place, and the balance of the fee is paid at the centre on your first morning. Confirmation and joining instructions follow by email straight away. For a different date, call 020 8050 4108. If you book that way we email a secure payment link, as we never take card details over the phone.

On the day, bring:

• Photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence
• Two proofs of address dated within the last three months
• Your SIA licence number
• ACT Awareness and ACT Security certificates (free courses on ProtectUK; our ACT training page explains them)
• The balance of your course fee

Results and renewal

Results usually come by email two to three weeks after you finish. It can take longer when the awarding bodies are busy, so there is no fixed date. When they arrive, renew in your SIA online account. Applications open four months before your licence expires, so there is no reason to leave it late.
