SIA Security Guard Refresher (Top Up) in Bethnal Green

This SIA Security Guard refresher in Bethnal Green takes a single day, 9am to 5.30pm, on Bethnal Green Road. It covers the top up training and the Emergency First Aid certificate the SIA needs before you can renew a Security Guard licence.

Done in one day

The guarding refresher is kept to one day, so it fits between shifts. You start with Emergency First Aid in the first half of the day: CPR, using a defibrillator, choking and serious bleeding. After that you go through the updated SIA content for security officers, including searching, safeguarding vulnerable people and terror awareness. There is a short multiple choice and practical assessment before you leave.

Who it is for

The course suits officers working static sites, offices, retail and construction security around Hackney, Shoreditch and the City. If you hold a Security Guard licence and want to stay in guarding, this is the course to book. If you want to move onto doors, you would need the full Door Supervisor course instead, which also runs at Bethnal Green.

Before the day

• Book four to five months before your licence expires. Already expired? You can still book. The SIA lets you renew before your licence expires or up to three years after it expires.
• Complete the free ACT Awareness and ACT Security e-learning on the ProtectUK website and keep the certificates. You need them before the course.
• Bring photo ID and two proofs of address from the last three months.

Door supervisors renewing at this centre should book the two-day Door Supervisor refresher in Bethnal Green. Bethnal Green station on the Central line is a few minutes away; see the centre page for directions.
