Choosing the right SIA course

SIA Door Supervisor. The most popular starting point. Six days with first aid included, and the licence covers pubs, clubs, events, retail and static guarding. See the Door Supervisor course.

SIA Security Guard. Four days with first aid included, for site, office, retail and event guarding. It does not cover licensed premises. See the Security Guard course.

SIA CCTV Operator. Three days, in London or Manchester, with no first aid needed, for control room work in public spaces. See the CCTV course.

Refresher training. Compulsory before you renew a Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence, and first aid is included. See SIA refresher courses.

Bundles. Door Supervisor with CCTV, or a refresher with CCTV, booked together for less than the two courses separately.

Training across London and beyond

BookCourse is a booking platform. We partner with training centres, and the centre you choose delivers your training and assessment. Our London partner centres are in Stratford, Bethnal Green, Forest Gate, Aldgate, Whitechapel, Canary Wharf and Battersea, with more in Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester. Most of our East London centres are a short walk from the Elizabeth line, Central line or DLR. See every East London course in one place.

Free counter-terrorism training

The ACT Awareness e-learning from ProtectUK is free and shows you how to spot and respond to a terrorist threat. Read our guide to ACT training to find out how to complete it online.

Frequently asked questions

Which SIA course should I take first?

Most people start with the Door Supervisor course. The licence covers door work and security guarding, so it opens the widest range of jobs. If you only want control room work, the CCTV course is the shorter route.

How long do SIA courses take?

Door Supervisor takes six days at most centres, Security Guard four days, and CCTV three days, in London and Manchester alike. Refresher courses take two days for Door Supervisors and one day for Security Guards.

Is first aid included?

Yes, on every course that needs it. Door Supervisor, Security Guard and refresher courses all include Emergency First Aid, taught in the first half of day one. The CCTV licence does not require first aid.

How do I book?

Choose your course and centre, pick a date and pay a deposit to reserve your place. You pay the balance at the centre on your first morning. The exception is our London Emergency First Aid course, which you pay for in full when you book. We never take card details over the phone. If you call us, we email you a secure payment link instead. You pay the deposit through it, or the full fee for a course paid in full, and companies pay the full amount by invoice.

What do I need to bring?

Photo identification and two proofs of address dated within the last three months. You need to be 18 or over with the right to work in the UK.

Not sure which centre or date?

Call us and we will find you the next start that fits around your work.
