SIA Refresher Training in Liverpool

The SIA Top Up Refresher Training in Liverpool gets you ready to renew in one or two days. Choose the two-day Door Supervisor course or the one-day Security Guard course at our Norfolk Street, L1 0BG centre. First Aid is included in both.

Why the refresher is now required

From 1 April 2025 the SIA only renews a Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence once refresher training is done. Switching licence type? Ring us before booking, because a different course may apply.

Book well ahead of your expiry date, because any gap between cards is a gap in the shifts you can work. You can renew at any point before it expires, and if yours has already run out, you still have up to three years after the expiry date.

Two refreshers at one centre

The Door Supervisor refresher takes two days, from 9am to 6.30pm, and includes a physical intervention refresher. The Security Guard refresher takes one day, from 9am to 5.30pm. Emergency First Aid included

A valid Emergency First Aid certificate has to be shown at renewal. Here it is built in: a half-day session that takes the first half of day one, covering CPR, defibrillators, choking, life-threatening bleeding and keeping an airway open.

Getting to the centre

The training centre is at Queens Dock Business Centre, Norfolk Street, Liverpool L1 0BG, on the edge of the Baltic Triangle. Liverpool ONE and the Albert Dock are a short walk away, and Liverpool Central station is within walking distance.

City bus routes run close by, and the business centre has on-site parking. Midweek dates suit door staff who work weekends in the city centre, and weekend dates suit those on weekday guarding contracts.

Renewing your licence

Expect your results by email about two to three weeks after the course, though the awarding bodies can take longer and we can’t give a fixed date. Once they arrive, renew in your SIA online account. You can apply as early as four months before your licence ends.
