Call 020 8050 4108The SIA Door Supervisor Course in Liverpool covers everything you need for a door supervisor licence in six days at our Norfolk Street, L1 0BG centre, on the edge of the Baltic Triangle. Training, first aid, practical assessments and exams all happen in the same place, in the same week.
There are no extra charges later.
Payment: £100 deposit to book, £250 at the centre on day one.
When comparing prices in Liverpool, check whether first aid is included. If it is not, you pay for a second course and give up another day.
Day 1: First aid, then law and the security industry. The day starts with a half-day of practical first aid: primary survey, CPR, defibrillator use, the recovery position, choking, heavy bleeding, shock and burns. After that you learn the legal side: how licensing works, key legislation, health and safety duties, fire safety and evacuation, and how to report incidents and keep records.
Day 2: Working the door. You cover the everyday parts of the job: searches and consent, refusing entry, removing customers lawfully, what reasonable force means, drug awareness and age checks.
Day 3: Risk and vulnerability. You learn to read behaviour, assess risk at the entrance, look after vulnerable customers, and work with the emergency services during an incident.
Day 4: Conflict management. This is the skill you will rely on most. You learn to notice trouble early, stay calm and clear under pressure, talk people down before things turn physical, and record what happened afterwards.
Day 5: Physical intervention. Only then does the course move to physical skills. You cover the law, the risks of restraint including positional asphyxia, escaping holds, low-level restraint, escorting, and working safely as a team.
Day 6: Revision and exams. After revision and mock papers, you take your exams.
Our centre is at Queens Dock Business Centre, Norfolk Street, Liverpool L1 0BG, just south of the city centre near Queens Dock. Liverpool ONE and the Albert Dock are a short walk away, and Liverpool Central station is within walking distance, putting the whole Merseyrail network within easy reach.
City bus routes run close by, and the business centre has on-site parking if you prefer to drive.
The centre is easy to reach from Bootle, Crosby, Kirkby, Huyton, Knowsley, St Helens, Birkenhead, Wallasey and across the Wirral. Six days in a row is manageable when the commute is simple.
There is another advantage to this location. The Baltic Triangle is full of bars, clubs and music venues, so you are training right next to the kind of places you could be working in.
The door supervisor licence covers door work and security guarding, so it gives you more choice of front-line jobs than a Security Guard licence.
Liverpool’s bars and clubs need licensed door staff. You will find work around Concert Square, Seel Street, Bold Street, Mathew Street and the Baltic Triangle.
Big events bring regular extra shifts. These include matchdays at Anfield and the Hill Dickinson Stadium, concerts at the M&S Bank Arena, the Grand National at Aintree, and a steady flow of festivals and conferences. Liverpool ONE, the Albert Dock, hotels, the port and construction sites provide daytime work too.
You must be 18 or over with the right to work in the UK. On day one, bring photo ID and two proofs of address from the last three months.
No experience is needed. The SIA checks criminal records when you apply for your licence. If you have lived outside the UK for six months or more in a row during the last five years, you will need overseas checks as well.
Full attendance is required. The SIA sets minimum contact hours for the qualification, so missing time can cost you your certificate.
You’ll receive your confirmation and joining instructions by email straight away. For a specific week, call 020 8050 4108.
Once your results are in, apply through the SIA licence application service, which can take up to eight weeks. We also suggest the free ACT counter-terrorism e-learning, which you do on the ProtectUK website. Our ACT training guide shows you how.
