This bundle is five days: the Door Supervisor refresher takes two, on Saturday and Sunday, and CCTV takes three, from Wednesday to Friday. £430 with First Aid included, and £150 to book. You come out ready to renew one licence and apply for a second.
Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 6.30pm. The refresher. A half-day of Emergency First Aid takes the first half of the first refresher day. After that: search procedures, safeguarding vulnerable people, terror threat awareness, spiking prevention and physical intervention. You are tested through multiple-choice papers and practical assessments.
Wednesday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. SIA Level 2 CCTV Public Space Surveillance. Three units make up its 27 guided hours: working within private security, the CCTV operator’s role, and operating the equipment in practice. It finishes with the exam and involves no first aid. No prior CCTV experience is assumed.
We list the refresher weekend first. You can do it the other way round: call and ask for the CCTV days first.
Your fee includes both qualifications, Emergency First Aid, the self-study pack, every exam and assessment, and both certificates.
Canary Wharf, E14 9TS, about a minute from Crossharbour DLR. Canary Wharf station on the Jubilee and Elizabeth lines is a short ride up the island, with South Quay and Mudchute both close. From south London the DLR via Lewisham and Greenwich drops you at the door.
The renewal keeps your door work going at Docklands bars, hotels, events and shops, and a door licence still covers guarding. The CCTV licence opens control room work on the Wharf estate, in bank and corporate offices, data centres and transport hubs, and at the O2 across the water.
This renews a licence; it does not issue a first one. You need an SIA Door Supervisor licence that is still valid, or one that expired three years ago at most. Never licensed? Begin with our SIA Door Supervisor course. You must also be 18 or older with the right to work in the UK, and bring photo ID with two proofs of address no more than three months old. Do the self-study before the refresher weekend; the instructions come once you book. ACT certificates are covered in the FAQs below.
Choose a start date, press Book and enter your name, email and mobile. £150 is taken by card there and then. The total is £430: £150 deposit to book, £280 at the centre on day one. Day one is the first day of whichever course you start with.
Confirmation and joining instructions are emailed the moment you book, along with the self-study pack. Want a particular week, or a First Aid certificate checked before you start? Call 020 8050 4108, Monday to Saturday. You can book by phone as well: we email you a secure payment link, because we never take card details over the phone.
With the course passed, make the renewal and CCTV applications together on the SIA licence application service. The second licence is cheaper that way, and approval can take up to eight weeks.
Does CCTV get added to my existing licence, or is it a separate one?
Separate. You will hold two SIA licences, Door Supervisor and Public Space Surveillance (CCTV), each with its own card and its own renewal date. Applying for both at once gets you a reduced fee on the second.
What about ACT certificates?
You need both, ACT Awareness and ACT Security, before the refresher. ProtectUK runs them online free of charge, and together they take a couple of hours. Our ACT training page has the steps.
Can I just do the three CCTV days?
Yes, book the standalone CCTV course in Canary Wharf instead. The bundle only makes sense if you need the refresher too; if your licence has years left, the separate course is cheaper.
Can my employer pay, or get an invoice?
Yes. Call us before you book and we will email your employer an invoice with a secure payment link for the full amount, instead of you paying online. The same works if they are booking several officers at once.
