SIA Refresher Training in Forest Gate

Our partner centre in Forest Gate runs refresher training for both SIA licences that need it. The Door Supervisor refresher takes two days and the Security Guard refresher takes one, and both include Emergency First Aid. Choose your licence type when you book. Which refresher do you need?

Book the Door Supervisor refresher if you want to keep working on the door. Book the Security Guard refresher if you hold a guarding licence and plan to stay in guarding. If you hold a door licence but only work as a guard at the moment, the Door Supervisor refresher keeps both options open, because a door licence also covers guarding.

What the training covers

Both courses start with Emergency First Aid, a half-day session in the first half of day one covering CPR, defibrillators, choking, bleeding and shock. Both then update you on the SIA's current standards for searching, safeguarding vulnerable people, terror awareness and dealing with conflict. The Door Supervisor course adds a physical intervention refresher, which is why it runs for the extra day. You are assessed at the end.

Before you come

• Train four to five months before your licence expires, so the renewal goes through without a gap. Already expired? You can still book. The SIA lets you renew before your licence expires or up to three years after it expires.
• Complete the free ACT Awareness and ACT Security courses on the ProtectUK website and keep the certificates. You need them before the course.
• Bring photo ID and two proofs of address dated within the last three months.

The centre is a short walk from Forest Gate station on the Elizabeth line, two stops from Stratford, with Woodgrange Park and Wanstead Park on the Overground nearby.
