SIA Door Supervisor Course in Whitechapel

This SIA Door Supervisor course in Whitechapel runs over six days, Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 6pm, at Aldgate Corner on Whitechapel High Street. It includes Emergency First Aid, and every exam is sat at the centre.

Easy to reach by Tube and rail

Six Tube and rail lines are inside a ten-minute walk: the District and Hammersmith & City at Aldgate East, the Circle and Metropolitan at Aldgate, the Elizabeth line at Whitechapel and Liverpool Street, and the Overground at Shoreditch High Street. Whether you are coming from Mile End, Bow, Stepney, Hackney, Newham, Essex or south of the river, there is probably a direct route.

Where a door licence can take you

The area around the centre has work in every direction. The City needs security for offices, hotels and corporate events. Brick Lane and Shoreditch run busy bars and clubs every weekend. Large sites such as hospitals, universities and shopping centres employ security teams too, and a Door Supervisor licence covers guarding as well as door work.

What you learn over the six days

• Emergency First Aid, a half-day session in the first half of day one
• How the private security industry works, and the law that applies to you
• Searching, refusing entry, licensing law and safeguarding vulnerable people
• Recognising and calming conflict before it turns physical
• Physical intervention skills, taught with safety first

You need to be 18 or over with the right to work in the UK. No experience is needed. Bring photo ID and two proofs of address dated within the last three months.

Renewing later

When your licence comes up for renewal in three years, you can take the Door Supervisor refresher in Whitechapel at the same centre. Read more on the Whitechapel centre page.
