Online banksman training
Learn to direct vehicles safely on site without taking a day off. This online traffic marshal course takes around four hours, runs on any phone or computer, and ends with a CPD-accredited certificate and a banksman ID card.
Delivered online by our partner London Construction College. You book, study and receive your certificate through their website.
A traffic marshal, often called a banksman, guides lorries, dumpers and other plant around a site where the driver cannot see everything. Using agreed hand signals and safe positioning, they keep vehicles away from people, structures and each other, especially when reversing or working in tight spaces. Most sites with moving vehicles need someone in the role, which is why the ticket is one of the quickest ways to make yourself more employable in construction.
There is a short final assessment at the end. Pass it and you can download your certificate straight away, and your ID card follows by post.
The online course suits labourers, site operatives and anyone who has been asked for banksman training at short notice. It is quick, flexible and low cost.
If a contractor has told you that you need a CPCS card, book the classroom CPCS A73 traffic marshal course instead. It runs over two Saturdays at our Barking partner centre and finishes with the CPCS test, which leads to the red trained operator card. If you are not sure which one you need, call us on 020 8050 4108 and we will check with you.
Most sites also need a CSCS card before you can work there. The one-day CSCS card course covers the health and safety training and the CITB test you need to apply for it.
No. The online course gives you a CPD-accredited certificate and an ID card, which many sites accept as proof of banksman training. Some larger contractors ask specifically for a CPCS A73 Plant and Vehicle Marshaller card, which needs classroom training and a practical test. Check with the site before you book.
Most people finish in about four hours. You can do it in one sitting or come back to it, and your access lasts for 12 months.
You can take the assessment again at no extra cost.
The online course is delivered by our partner, London Construction College. You book and study on their website, and they issue your certificate and ID card.
