Practise the security officer exam paper with 60 questions in 90 minutes. Patrolling, access control, alarms and CCTV, searching people and vehicles, trespass and incident reports, with every answer explained.
Each attempt picks a new set of questions from a bank of 90, so you can practise as often as you like.
NHS advice is to encourage bleeding, wash with soap and running water without scrubbing or sucking, cover it and get urgent medical advice. Then report it.
Listening first avoids blocking others, and a short pause stops the start of your message from being cut off.
Protecting life always comes before protecting property, assets or stock. Every other duty follows from that.
A missing master key could give access to the whole site, so it must be reported straight away. Locks may need to be changed.
Offenders may still be inside, so do not enter alone. Keep the scene intact and let the police deal with it.
Reports should be factual, accurate and clear, recording what you personally saw and heard.
Needle and slash-resistant gloves reduce the risk of sharps injuries during searches and when handling drug litter.
ANPR reads number plates and can open the barrier for vehicles on the authorised list. Hold any vehicle it flags while you follow the site's access control procedure, such as checking who the driver is visiting and confirming the visit.
The question bank has 90 questions across these topics. Every attempt mixes them at random.
The Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry has three units. This page tests the security officer unit, the paper about the job itself: static and patrol duties, controlling who comes in and out, alarms, CCTV and barriers, keeping yourself safe when working alone, searching people, bags and vehicles, dealing with trespassers and lost property, and writing clear reports.
The common unit and the conflict management paper are shared with the door supervisor course, and you can practise both with the links above.
At 60 questions this is one of the longest SIA papers. You have an average of 90 seconds a question, which is plenty if you keep moving. Flag anything you are unsure of, finish the paper, then go back to your flagged questions with the time left. The full mock test lets you practise exactly that.
The SIA asks security guard learners for an Emergency First Aid certificate that is valid for at least 12 months from the course start. The security guard course we list includes it, taught in the first half of day one, so there is nothing extra to book. You can take the free first aid quiz to see what it covers.
Yes. The SIA licence is called a security guard licence, while the qualification calls the role a security officer. Same job, same exams.
Three multiple choice papers. The principles of working in the private security industry (72 questions), the principles of working as a security officer (60 questions) and conflict management (20 questions), plus practical assessments.
You need 42 out of 60, which is 70%, and you have 90 minutes.
Yes. A door supervisor licence also covers security guarding, which is why many people choose the door supervisor course instead. A security guard licence does not let you work on the door of licensed premises.
Questions last checked: 17 October 2026. These are practice questions written for BookCourse, not the official exam papers.
